Craps
Craps has been a popular casino game since the era of the Roman gladiators. In casinos today, it often seems as if the people at the Craps table are having their own party, with all the laughing and cheering going on. You'll be hard-pressed to find a game with more excitement and fun than Craps.
Object Of The Game
There isn't a single object of Craps - except to win! Some
players may choose to wager with the shooter by wagering
on the Pass and Come lines. Other players may wager against
the shooter by playing the Don't Pass or Don't Come lines.
Still other players may not want to become involved with
making points, and prefer single-roll bets like Field or
Any Craps.
Lets Play
To many people, Craps is their favorite casino game. It
is fast, exciting and wild fun. It appears to be complicated
at first but it is actually very simple.
The player, called the shooter, rolls two dice and the total of the two dice is added together.
The first roll is called the Come Out roll. When rolling the Come Out roll, the shooter is trying to establish a Point by rolling one of the following numbers: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10. If one of those numbers comes up, then that number becomes the Point.
If you wagered on the Pass Line, you are betting that the shooter will roll the Point again before rolling a 7. For instance, your Pass Line bet would win if the shooter rolled the following sequence: 4, 6, 8, 12, 5, 4. You would lose if the shooter rolled this sequence: 4, 6, 8, 12, 5, 7. The round ends when the shooter either rolls the point (by rolling a 4) or craps out (by rolling a 7).
If you wagered the Don't Pass Line, you are betting that the shooter will crap out by rolling a 7 before the Point is rolled again. For instance, your Don't Pass Line would win if the shooter rolled the following sequence: 4, 6, 8, 12, 5, 7. You would lose if the shooter rolled this sequence: 4, 6, 8, 12, 5, 4.
If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the Come Out roll, the Pass Line wager is paid off at even money and the Don't Pass wager is lost. If the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12 then the Pass Line wager is lost. The Don't Pass wager wins if a 2 or 3 is rolled and is a push if a 12 is rolled.
If the shooter rolls a point number, then the game progresses to the next stage where the shooter has to roll the same number again before rolling a 7.
The Pass and Don't Pass bets are common bets. However, there are many other bets that can be made.
Additional Types of Bets
The Pass Bet
This is a bet that the shooter will throw a 7 or 11 on the
Come Out roll or, alternatively, that the shooter will roll
the Point again before rolling a 7. You cannot remove a
Pass bet after the Point has been made.
The Don't Pass Bet
This is the opposite of the Pass bet. This bet is placed
against the shooter and wins if craps (2 or 3) is thrown
on the Come Out roll or if the shooter fails to make the
point. If a 12 is thrown, the bet is a push. You cannot
remove a Don't Pass bet after the Point has been made.
The Come Bet
This bet is similar to the Pass bet but need not be made
on the come out roll. When you place a Come bet, the next
number rolled will be treated as if it were your Point.
The Don't Come Bet
Again, this bet is similar to the Don't Pass bet, but can
be made after a Point has been made. You cannot remove the
Don't Come bet after it has been placed.
Odds Bet
This is an additional bet made on a Pass, Don't Pass, Come
or Don't Come bet that has already been placed. Odds bets
can only be made once the point has been established. Odds
bets are paid out at the true odds: 2 to 1 on a roll of
4 or 10, 3 to 2 on a roll of 5 or 9, and 6 to 5 on a roll
of 6 or 8. Odds bets can be removed or reduced at any time.
Buy Bet
This bet can be made on the following numbers: 4, 5, 6,
8, 9, or 10. It is a bet that the relevant number will be
thrown before a 7.
Lay Bet
This bet can be made on the following numbers: 4, 5, 6,
8, 9, or 10. It is a bet that a 7 will be thrown before
the relevant number.
Field Bet
This is a bet on the outcome of the next throw. It pays
even money if a 3,4,9,10 or 11 is thrown, and 2-1 if a 2
or 12 is thrown.
Hardways Bet
This bet can be made on 4, 6, 8 or 10. It is a bet that
the relevant number will be thrown in its double form (for
instance, a hard 8 occurs when two 4s are thrown) before
a 7 and before that number is thrown in any other combination.
Big 6 Bet
A Big 6 bet is a bet that 6 will be rolled before 7. A Big
6 bet is placed in the 6 box in the left corner of the table,
and wins even money if you roll an 6 before rolling a 7.
Big 8 Bet
A Big 8 bet is a bet that 8 will be rolled before 7. A Big
8 bet is placed in the 8 box in the left corner of the table,
and wins even money if you roll an 8 before rolling a 7.
