History
Roulette is an exciting and sophisticated game played by people throughout the world. The word roulette literally translated from French, means "small wheel." It dates from ancient Greece and is the oldest casino game played today. Gambling with the wheel began when soldiers would spin their shields on the points of their swords and bet on where the shields would stop.

Object
The object of Roulette is to bet on which numbered pocket a ball will come to rest in. On a Euro Roulette wheel there are 37 pockets numbered 0, and 1-36. You as a player generally play against the house. The wheel has 37 slots representing 36 numbers and one zero. In the USA most wheels have two zeros and therefore 38 slots. You start playing by placing your chips on number(s) boxes on the table.

Overview
There are several types of bets in Euro Roulette. All are explained later under Betting Options. After you place your bets, the ball is spun and the outcome is determined by where the ball lands. If any of your bets are related to the outcome, you win!

Although the arrangement of the numbers on the roulette wheel may look arbitrary, the high, low, even, odd numbers are, in fact, mathematically balanced. The zero stands alone and the odd and even numbers alternate.
