Video Poker
Video Poker is an electronic variation of basic 5-Card Draw Poker. The objective of video poker is to obtain the highest ranked five-card poker hand possible. Rather than comparing your hand against another player, you are playing against the house.
Jacks or Better Poker is the most popular version of Video Poker. To win, you need a hand with a pair of Jacks or better (hence the name). A 52-card deck is used and is reshuffled after each hand.
Based on classic Five Card Stud, Video Poker challenges you to make the best possible five-card hand. You are dealt five cards and have the option of discarding any or all of the cards. New cards are dealt to replace the discarded cards. Video Poker different from regular table poker in that you do not play agains't other players. The object of Video Poker is to make the best possible 5 card hand.
Payoffs are based on a scale, paying players for hands as low as a pair of tens or Jacks all the way up to a Royal Flush. Like slot machines, Video Poker machines are available in many denominations, with 25c and $1 machines being the most popular. Many casinos also offer progressive payoffs or bonuses for Royal Flushes or other special hands. Video Poker provides variety too, with versions ranging from 'Jacks or Better' to 'Deuces Wild' and 'Jokers Wild'.
